Kind
of about Running
Alan has been a running-bore. Running can easily become obsessional.
These days that’s rather in the past tense, but he still
gets a buzz from jogging and the occasional cycle ride.
If you want to find out a bit more about Alan’s running
experiences and running ‘loony’ friends, check out:

You can even view him in action preparing for the 1992 Grizzly
- Eye of the Storm in the following video:
Great
Britain Training Log
With friends Trevor (who is amongst the world’s most prolific
marathon runners) and Sara Hawes, Alan produced the Great
Britain Training Log. He still has a few for sale
at £5.00 each including p&p.
It’s a fun idea. It can be hung or blu-tacked to a wall
or door and measures seven foot three inches. What you can then
do is to add in your own diary training entries (running, cycling
or walking) on a map of John O’Groats to Land’s End
– and see how long it takes you to complete the 1,022 miles,
while learning some bits of history along the way.

Trevor Hawes, by the way, now runs a successful educational company:
